Rescue the Sumatran
Tigers & Tigresses
Let’s Help Rescue a Soul for More Lives of Them
Reasons Worth-Rescuing <3
-
1. Ecological Role as an Apex Predator
The Sumatran tigers and tigresses is an apex predator in the forest ecosystem. This means that it is at the top of the food chain. Its presence is very important to maintain the balance of the ecosystem.
Controlling Prey Population: Tigers eat herbivorous animals such as deer, wild boar and others. Without tigers and tigresses, the population of other animals will increase uncontrollably.
Preventing Overgrazing: If the prey population is too large, they will overgraze vegetation, destroying the forest and changing the habitat structure. This will have a negative impact on other plant and animal species that depend on the vegetation.
Ecosystem Health Indicator: As an apex predator, the tiger population reflects the health of the ecosystem as a whole. Rescuing tigers and tigresses means saving the entire forest and its biodiversity.

2. Cultural and Symbolic Values
The Sumatran tigers and tigresses has deep cultural and symbolic value for local communities, especially the tribes of Sumatra.
-
3. Indonesia's Biodiversity
The Sumatran tigers and tigresses are the only remaining tiger subspecies in Indonesia after the extinction of the Javan and Bali tigers nd tigresses. This makes it an invaluable asset and a source of national pride. If the Sumatran tigers and tigresses were to become extinct, Indonesia would lose all the tiger species it once had.
-
4. Real and Imminent Threat
The Sumatran tigers and tigresses population continues to decline drastically, with only about 600 individuals estimated to remain in the wild. The main threats are: Habitat Loss (Deforestation), Poaching and Illegal Trade, Human-Tiger Conflict, Decline in Prey Population.

5. Moral and Global Responsibility
As humans, we have a moral responsibility to protect the biodiversity of this earth. The extinction of the Sumatran tiger would be an irreparable loss, not only for Indonesia but also for the global natural heritage. Conservation efforts are a reflection of our commitment to the sustainability of the earth and the balance of nature.
